The first 'The Jackbox Party Pack' was released last year

Their flagship series is the trivia game 'You Don’t Know Jack'. With the snarky Jackbox humor and penchant for audience participation, The Jackbox Party Pack 3 will likely be my go-to entertainment for Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers this year, regardless of what games they add.Jackbox Games, based in Chicago and previously known as Jellyvision and Learn Television, has been working on social and party games for the better part of 25 years. It’s easy to knock franchises for yearly installments, but in the case of Jackbox, having a new batch of games to play at family gatherings on a yearly basis is welcome. We won’t get more details until closer to fall. I’m personally hoping for a game similar to Bomb Corp, or just a flat-out sequel. New favorites are likely to appear, and possibly sequels to games such as Lie Swatter, Fibbage, Word Spud, Quiplash, or Bidiots. We know that Drawful 2 will not be a part of it, and we can expect to see games similar to those in the past.

We have fewer details on The Jackbox Party Pack 3. Other features hinted at include online play (yes!) with friends or strangers far away, and new ways to deal with trolls. If you have ever played the game, you know how big a deal this is–two colors allows for more distinction in drawings, and also more hilarity as you flail miserably with your two colors and no erase option. First, you can now draw in two colors, instead of just one. You might get something as simple as “broccoli” or something as ridiculous as “Liam Neeson riding a unicorn over the moon while on fire”.ĭrawful 2 promises to bring back the fun, but with more options. The game is a blast for two reasons: it’s really hard to draw with no stylus on a tiny phone with no erase button and one color, and the variety of captions is seemingly limitless. These pictures are then shown, one by one, on screen for players to attempt to caption, and then guess the original caption from among their friends’ submissions. The original Drawful was a part of the original The Jackbox Party Pack. Up to eight players with either phones or tablets participate by drawing pictures on their device based on prompts. For those who need a new game sooner, Drawful 2 will be released this spring as a standalone game. Jackbox Games announced today that The Jackbox Party Pack 3 is in the works, and will be released sometime this fall.

Party time! After the immense success of Jackbox Party Packs 1 and 2, Jackbox Games is at it again with their compilations of fast-paced, silly, mobile-to-console minigames. The Jackbox Party Pack 3 shall remain a living room party game (it wouldn’t be as fun long distance, anyway!). We have received official clarification that “online play” means the same online features the Jackbox Party Pack games have always had–streaming via Twitch, Steam broadcasting, YouTube gaming, hitbox, Skype, Google Hangout, or Periscope. We erroneously interpreted the Drawful 2 trailer as hinting at online play in terms of playing with strangers and friends far away.
